We continuously keep ourselves up-to-date on any changes in orthodontics technology by attending seminars and continuing education courses.

We offer several types of braces, ranging from traditional metal braces, to clear, ceramic braces which many adults prefer due to their cosmetic appeal. We also are proud to offer the innovative Invisalign system which is a series of clear overlay templates called aligners which gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adults with certain bite problems. There are no wires or brackets used and the aligners are removable. It will be hard for people to even know you're wearing braces with the Invisalign system, unless you choose to tell them yourself of course.

We also offer the very latest in digital imaging technology. If orthodontic treatment cannot correct your bite problem, corrective jaw surgery or orthognathic surgery could be an option for you. Computerize treatment planning reduces treatment times, recovery periods and the efficacy of the surgery. Corrective jaw surgery, when used in conjunction with orthodontic treatment can improve the overall appearance of the your facial profile.

We know how important it is to you to have a great smile you can be proud of. It is for this reason that we provide you with the highest level of care and the very latest treatment options available in the world of orthodontics. Tooth Extraction Vs. Non Tooth Extraction
A tooth extraction or having a tooth 'pulled' is one of the most common dental procedures. Many years ago, pulling a tooth or teeth was the recommended solution for many dental problems. Today however, modern dentistry aims to prevent tooth loss as keeping your natural teeth is always the optimal choice. A dentist will always recommend that other alternative treatments be undertaken to save a tooth before deciding that a tooth extraction is necessary.

It may be necessary to have a tooth extracted if the tooth is badly damaged due to tooth decay and if the dentist is not able to restore the tooth using a filling, crown or other treatment. Cavities are the main reasons teeth are extracted today. Broken or cracked teeth may also need to be taken out if a dentist is unable to repair them. If a patient has periodontal disease wherein his/her teeth are loose and are unable to be saved, a tooth extraction may be the course of action to take. In adults over the age of 40, bone loss due to periodontal disease is the most common reason to have teeth extracted.

When teeth do not erupt properly from the gums to their normal position they may become impacted. This is a painful condition which often occurs with wisdom teeth. Even if wisdom teeth are not impacted, they commonly cause problems because often there is not enough room for them to erupt above the gums properly. Also, wisdom teeth are difficult for many people to clean properly which can lead to problems wherein a dentist may recommend an extraction.

Concerning orthodontic treatment, the crowding of teeth can cause teeth to grow in crooked. It may be required that some teeth need to be extracted before fitting braces to ensure that there is enough space for the rest of the teeth to move into a straight position. Teeth which are positioned incorrectly may need to be extracted. It can be stressful and upsetting to think of having perfectly healthy teeth removed in order to obtain straight teeth. This can lead many people in this position to wonder if they are doing the right thing. However, once braces are placed on teeth following the extraction(s) the gaps will close and a great smile will emerge, confirming that indeed the right decision was made.

Dr. Lennard decides on an individual basis whether or not it is necessary to remove teeth. Dr. Lennard feels that it is essential to analyze each patient's specific needs because in-depth planning and analysis leads to outstanding results and a high level of patient satisfaction. Removing teeth is sometimes necessary to achieve the best orthodontic result. Straight teeth and a balanced facial profile are the main goals of orthodontics. However, new technology has provided Dr. Lennard with the opportunity to provide advanced orthodontic procedures wherein the removal of teeth many not always be necessary.
